What does 'obey the gospel' mean

Jn 6:40 - says that it is Gods will for everyone who hears the gospel to believe in Christ.
1Jn 3:23 - says that this is one of the two commandments given to us by God.

Show me one place in the bible that equates 'obeying the gospel' to 'being immersed' and i will show you many that equate 'obeying the gospel' to 'believing'. And please, no, cutting and pasting of verses taken out context.

Jhn 3:36 (NASB)"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

2 Thess 1:8-10 - says that those who believe the gospel are the ones who obeyed the gospel

Rom 10:16 - says those who believed are the ones who have obeyed the gospel. Same prophecy used in John 12:37. So it couldnt include baptism.

Gal 3:1-2 - says we receive the Spirit by the hearing of faith, when we obey the truth (gospel). To obey the truth is equated to belief here.

Eph 1:13 - we receive the Spirit after we believe the word of truth (gospel)

Heb 3:18 - 19: disobedience is equated to unbelief

Heb 4:2-6:belief and disobedience

1 Ptr 22 - obey the truth, purified your souls (by faith - Acts 15:9)

1Ptr 2:7,8 - belief and obedience

1 Ptr 4:17 - 18: those who obey the gospel are the righteous, but Hab 2:4 - righteous shall live by faith'. So obey here is equated to faith = belief.

Romans 3:21-26, Gal 3:5-6,22, etc equate faith to belief in Christ.
